Virgin Galactic, Scaled Composites and Richard Branson unveil White Knight Two.

Published by David Evans at 5:51 pm under Aviation News, Updates

Space enthusiasts around the world waited to see todays unveiling of space bound White Knight Two.  Deep in the Mohave desert, hanger doors peeled back to reveal the worlds largest all carbon-composite aircraft, named White Night Two.  Richard Branson and Burt Rutan were stationed inside the craft waving to the crowd through the ships windows.  Although the space aircraft, Space Ship Two is only 70 percent complete, the program is completely funded by a private company, Virgin Galactic.  For $200,000 you can also be a participant in a space flight, where you will ride White Night Two to an altitude of 50,000′.  At that point Space Ship Two would fire its hybrid rocket and take you to an altitude of 62 miles above the earth (327,000′).  Over 250 people have put deposits down to take this ride into space.

    Hello David,

My name is Megan Peterson, and I work at an Internet map-content start-up company in Boulder, Colorado. I just perused your blog. In general, we’re trying to bring information about aeronautical locations (among other interests like hiking, art, fishing, etc.) onto the Internet (Google maps, for example) as well as onto GPS devices and in-car navigation units. Our initial focus is on the US & UK. Our site will be structured and dynamic, driven by our users who will create and edit content (like a Wikipedia page). Also, our site will be free to all users, registered or not.

I’m very interested in having you participate in our closed site review occurring in several weeks. Essentially, we’d give you login information, have you create a user profile, peruse the site (i.e. the aeronautical locations), and give us detailed feedback. Also, we will enable you to invite others who may be interested in our site.

Ideally, you enjoy and contribute to our site, and blog about it. We’re hoping this is something you’d be interested in.

Thanks for your time. Please feel free to email me with any questions. I look forward to your response.

    Cordially,

    Megan Peterson
    Marketing Specialist
